Loama Resort Maldives at Maamigili

Recognised by the Conde Nast Traveller Middle East as one of the Best New Hotels in the world 2015, the Loama Resort at Maamigili is an idyllic getaway in the Maldives. The resort spans 100 hectaresof pristine coral reef supporting palm fringed beaches and sun kissed lagoons, a setting for a perfect postcard.

The resort offers several choices when it comes to accommodation and among the 105 rooms are family villas. Each of these 3 villas comprises two adjoining villas set on a sandy beach where it is possible to witness a breath-taking sun rise over the glimmering lagoon. Another choice is the Royal Ocean Pool Suite which being 234 square meters is more like a kingdom than a room and has its own private lagoon and butler. There is also a dhoni (local boat) available for use. Here you can either sip cocktails beside your own private pool or invite guests to join you in a feast prepared to your specifications.

At this resort, dining is an experience rarely rivalled with 6 different venues to choose from when dining. The Thundi open air restaurant is only open for dinner when the Thai chef will offer a selection of Asian cuisines. Another open air restaurant is the Meyzu Japanese restaurant where you can enjoy some of the excellent fresh sea food either in the form of a sushi or sizzling teppanyaki. The Fazaa restaurant offers a selection of western dishes plus some from Asia and the Mediterranean. The poolside Iru Café offers a selection of Italian delights such as pastas and pizzas. The Marha Bar offers high tea and a selection of canapés which have been inspired by the Maldives. Lastly the Athiri Club is a beach club offering live entertainment whilst enjoying exotic cuisine like Indian Maldivian classic or a BBQ of seafood.

With such an idyllic setting and such gastronomic treats, relaxation is one of the priorities most guests have in mind and fortunately for them it is easy to find, either in your own private pool or on one of the sandy beaches but, if you want more ways to relax, the resort has its own spa. The Loama Spa can offer a selection of relaxing treatments plus exceptional pampering and some rejuvenating experiences. The spa is also home to a state-of-the-art Fitness Centre. It offers both meditation and yoga classes and has an infinity pool.

The Maldives are all about sun, sea and sand and the most popular past time for both locals and visitors, is fishing. The resort can organize a fishing trip for you and although you can go during the day, the sun rise and the sun set fishing expeditions are the more popular. The resort will also arrange excursions, perhaps to picnic or BBQ on a deserted island or a cruise to watch dolphin or, for the more romantic, perhaps a sunset cruise. There are also excursions to Maakurathu, an indigenous island where you can learn about the Maldivian lifestyle.
